Check Out: Reason Behind the Mystery Sound In Bengaluru


May 21: The mystery of the loud noise (Sonic Boom) which made a lot of speculations among people in Bengaluru city on Wednesday has been finally solved. The Pro Bengaluru Ministry Of Defence announced on twitter that "It was a routine Indian Air Force test flight involving supersonic profile which took off from Bengaluru airport and flew in the allotted airspace well outside city limits. The Aircraft was of aircraft Systems and Testing Establishment (ASTE)"

Loud boom heard in Benagluru


May 20: A loud noise was heard in Benagaluru on Wednesday around 1.20pm, near Whitefiled. The sound was so loud that it was heard as far as Ramamurthy Nagar, Hosur Road, Old Airport Road, CV Raman Nagar, HSR Layout and many other parts of the city. Bengaluru Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao said to media that no damage was reported yet in the city and no calls were made to 100.

Bhaskar Rao also said "We have asked the Indian Air Force control room to check if it was any fighter aircraft". There are speculation that the sound could be a sonic boom from Fighter Jet. Some also pointed that HAL could be testing  LCA (Light Combat Aircraft). 

COVID19 cases in India spiked to the highest In a day


May 20: COVID19 cases in India has spiked the highest with 5,611 positive cases & 140 deaths in the last 24 hours. Total number of cases in the country has exceeded 1 lakh and is now at 106,750, including 61,149 active cases & 3,303 deaths, according to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Over the past few days, India has witnessed a steep spike in the number of positive Covid-19 cases and deaths on a daily basis.

The Centre on Sunday announced to extend the ongoing lockdown till May 31 to check on the spread of Coronavirus. The fourth phase of the lockdown comes with certain relaxations and fresh guidelines.

According to the Johns Hopkins University, the total number of COVID-19 cases has increased to over 4.7 million globally, and the death toll has crossed 315,000.

Karnataka government would get rid of zone


May 19: Starting today, the Karnataka government would get rid of the red, orange and green zone system. The government would identity containment zones and would be strictly monitoring them.
Medical Education Minister, K Sudhakar said that the district wise classification of zones will no longer exist. Once the lockdown is lifted, there is no relevance for such a classification. He also said that the government would be strictly monitoring the areas that has increasing number of cases. Currently a 100-metre area has been fenced off in containment zones.

The government would redefine the containment zones. No movement of private or public transport will be allowed in containment zones, Sudhakar added

Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has also said that the government’s main focus would be on the containment zones. Strict measures will be in place in these zones and rigorous punishment would be in force for those indulging in unlawful activities.

India's Total COVID-19 Cases Cross 1 Lakh


May 19: The Total number of coronavirus cases in India reaches 1 lakh yesterday, while the active cases reaches to 57,900. On Monday, 4,700 new cases were reported in the country, which takes it to be the third highest single day cases in India. Maharashtra remains to be the worst hit state in the country with 35,086 cases, 25,400 active cases.

The state reported about 2,000 cases on Monday.
On a positive note, there has been about 39,000 recovered cases from COVID-19 in India. The number of people recovering from COVID-19 has been rising steadily with recovery rate at 38.8%.

The other states which reported highest number of single day cases are: Tamil Nadu (536), Gujarat (366), Delhi (299), Rajasthan (305), Madhya Pradesh (259). Karnataka too registered about 99 cases in a single day which is the highest single day rise of cases in the state.

Lockdown 4.0: What is Open What is Not

May 18: The Centre has proposed a new set of guidelines after extending the lockdown till May 31.
The Centre has mentioned that the religious places will continue to remain shut until May 31. The Centre has also said that masks will be mandatory in public.

Here are some of the questionnaires which explains what is allowed and what is not:
1. Is wearing of mask compulsory?
               Yes, masks are compulsory in public and work places

2. Can marriages be held?
               Yes, but only with 50 people

3. What are the rules on funerals?
               Only 20 people can attend funerals

4. Is consumption of liquor, paan, gutka allowed?
               Yes, but not on public places 

5. Can I work from home?
                Yes, it is advised as much as possible

                Yes, with strict social distancing

                All domestic, international flights except for medical services are barred.

Wuhan City Reports COVID-19 Cases


May 13: Though the health authorities said there are no new cases of COVID-19 in the epicentre of the pandemic Wuhan city, the Country has reported 15 new cases including 8 asymptomatic cases.
According to China's National Health Commission (NHC), seven new positive cases were reported on Tuesday of Coronavirus, of which one is imported and the other six cases locally transmitted.
Also, eight new asymptomatic cases were reported taking their total to 750 on Tuesday, the NHC said.

Former FM P. Chidambaram say headline and blank page for Rs 20 Lakh Crore package


May 13: Former Finance Minister, P Chidambaram has said that the Prime Minister’s announcement of a Rs 20 lakh crore package is like a headline and blank page.

Former FM also said, he looks forward to learning the details of the package. The package will be made public by Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman today who will be addressing media at 4pm.

“Yesterday, PM gave us a headline and a blank page. Naturally, my reaction was blank. Today, we look forward to the FM filling the blank page. We will carefully count every additional Rupee that the government will infuse into the economy”, the former Finance Minister also said.

The first thing we will look for, is what the poor, hungry and devastated migrant workers can expect. Migrants have walked hundreds of kilometres to their home states. Hence, We will examine who gets what. We will also examine what the bottom half of the population will get in terms of real money, Chidambaram said.

COVID-19 Cases In India Cross 70,000 Mark


May 12: The total number coronavirus cases in the country cross 70,000 mark Today. While the active cases are at 46,000, the recoveries are 22,454 and deaths are at 2,293, according to Health Ministry.

In the last 24 hours, the COVID-19 cases in India reported 3,604 and death of 87 in a day. Health Ministry also said that the active cases in the country are 46,008 and 22,455 are cured/discharged

With 106 New Cases, Rajasthan's Tally Reaches 3,814


May 11: Rajasthan reported with 106 new cases of coronavirus with this total the state has registered 3,814 cases and death toll stand to 108. India, with the total 68,000+ confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported in the country so far. With 45,100+ active cases of coronavirus in the country and death toll in the country stand in 2,100+. 

Former PM Manmohan Singh Admitted In AIIMS


May 11:  Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh admitted to AIIMS after complaining about chest pain on sunday night (may 10th). The 87 years old Congress leader and Former PM was brought to AIIMS around 8.45pm. Former PM was admitted in Cardio neurosciences (CNS) tower in AIIMS.

The Former PM had undergone a redo cardiac surgery which includes five bypasses in 2009. He also had undergone a bypass surgery in 1990.

The former PM office said. " He is okay. He was taken to the hospital as he had fever due to side-effect of the medication given yesterday. He is under observation".

COVID-19 Cases Crosses 53,000 In India


May 7: The death toll rise to 1,700 and the total number of confirmed cases increases to 54,000 in the country due to Covid-19 on Thursday. More than 1,505 cases have been tested positive and about 325 patients have been cured or discharged Today.
According to reports, over 30 vaccines in India are in the stages of development to combat Covid-19. Some of these are advancing to the trial stages.
Meanwhile, the government is planning to evacuate stranded Indians from UK and US and over 3 lakh Indians have registered in Gulf countries for being evacuated from May 7th

Karnataka CM Makes Another U Turn


May 7: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa makes another U turn after canceling special trains to migrants. Today, Karnataka government said it will resume train service for migrant workers to their hometown. This comes after opposition parties slammed the BJP-government.

Letters in regards have sent to state government of Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Mainpur, West Bengal, Odisha And Rajasthan. Train to Bihar will be functional everyday from May 8 to May 15, the decision for other states are awaited.

The decision of canceling trains comes after builders met Karnataka Chief Minister. The builders requested CM that migrants not leave Bengaluru. As the construction work will remain standstill.

India Sends Navy Ships To Bring Back Stranded India's From Foreign Countries


May 6: India sends Navy ships to UAE, Saudi, Maldives, and from other countries to bring back Indian's who are stranded due to COVID-19 pandemic. India had sealed its borders and shutdown its airline and railway services to avoid the spread of coronavirus.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced lockdown on March 24 after which lockdown was  extended due to the increase in COVID-19 cases. And now India is divided into three zone (RED, ORGAN, GREEN) While in the Green zone government allows essentials and non-essentials services to be functional. However Red And Organ zone have few constraints for non-essentials.

On Monday Karnataka and New Delhi allowed liquor shops to re-open after 40days of lockdown in all zones 




COVID -19 Cases Close To 50,000 In India


May 6: The death toll rise to 1,694  and the total number of confirmed cases increases to 49,333 in the country due to Covid-19 on Wednesday, registering 126 deaths in a day, the Union Health Ministry said.
More than 2,950 cases have been tested positive and about 1,456 patients have been cured or discharged in the past 24 hours.
Maharashtra and Gujarat continued to remain at the top top to register maximum fresh cases, with the former confirming 15,525 positive cases following 617 deaths.

Former PM Manmohan Singh Hold A Meeting With Congress CMs


May 6: During a video conferencing on COVID 19 with Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on Wednesday asked, what would the strategy be to get the country out of lockdown by the Government of India.
''We need to know what will happen after lockdown 3.0,' Former PM Manmohan Singh said during a meeting with Congress CMs. The meeting was held today through video conferencing, which was attended by the Chief Ministers of Punjab, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Puducherry. The meeting was held on basis of the announcement by the Congress to bear the travel costs of the stranded migrants, and on the conversations by Rahul Gandhi’s and Noble laureate Abhijeet Banerjee.
Congress is persistently focusing on the condition of the migrant labourers and the poor, who it says have been badly affected by the unplanned lockdown.

Karnataka plans to open malls and liquor shops from May 4

May 1: Karnataka government indicates that its in favour of reopening commercial and industrial sectors across the state except for those in COVID-19 containment zones. The state has allowed some sectors to reopen in non-COVID zones.  And, now are planning to run liquor shops, shopping malls, and a chain of commercial activities following week by regulating containment zones to a few specific areas instead of imposing a complete ban on the ward. 

The government is  awaiting confirmation from the Centre to execute the plan. In a Red zone like Bengaluru Urban restriction will apply only on 24 containment zones across 34 wards, normal business activities whereas Malls and Cinema Halls in Beangaluru had closed 10 days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced nationwide lockdown on March 24. And public transport like metro and buses will not operate until May 15.

Mukesh Ambani to forgo entire salary for a year

April 30: Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani forgo his entire salary for the year 2020-21. The Reliance Industries today (April 30 2020),  announced that its entire senior leaders and board to take pay cut between the range 10 to 50% as a proactive measure to tackle economy pressures during coronavirus outbreak.

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) said, that employees whose salaries are less than Rs 15 Lakh per year will not see pay cut. Whereas, the employees whose salaries are over Rs 15 Lakh will see a fixed pay cut. 

Raghuram Rajan Says India needs 65,000 crore to treat poor

April 30: The former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan, said that India can presume a supreme role in shaping the economy after the COVID-19 crisis. In an interaction with Congress MP, Rahul Gandhi through video conferencing, Rajan said, crisis during coronavirus pandemic rarely have any positive results for any country. However, this will enable us to reconsider all aspects in the global economy.
There will have to be a reconsideration of everything in the global economy once we are out of this, If there is an opportunity for India, it is in shaping that dialogue and in being the leader in that dialogue, the former RBI chief said.

He also stated that going for a second or third lockdown to examine the spread of the virus will be devastating for the country’s economy. It may also decrease our credibility. Though, we don’t have to aim for 100 percent success which is highly impossible, we must at least manage the re-opening of certain sectors he added

Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor breathed his last today

April 30: Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor breathed his last today, in a hospital in Mumbai at the age of 67 after battling for about two years with leukaemia. He was being treated for Cancer in New York last year. The Kapoor family has issued an official statement saying,

“Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8:45 am IST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukaemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last. He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents. Family, friends, food and films remained his focus and everyone who met him during this time was amazed at how he did not let his illness get the better of him. He was grateful for the love of his fans that poured in from the world over. In his passing, they would all understand that he would like to be remembered with a smile and not with tears. In this hour of personal loss, we also recognize the world is going through a very difficult and troubled time. There are numerous restrictions around movement and gathering in public. We would like to request all his fans and well-wishers and friends of the family to please respect the laws that are in force. He would not have it any other way."

Moody's slashes India's Growth Rate

April 29: Moody's Investors Service on Tuesday slashed India's growth rate to 0.2%  for the year 2020. Earlier this year Moody projected the growth rate to be 5.2%. But, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement of nationwide lockdown on March 24, the agency cut down the growth rate from 5.2% to 2.5. 

India lost it's tag of fastest-growing economy country to China in the year 2019, as China's economy grew to 6.1%

Renowned actor Irrfan Khan passes away at 54

April 29: Renowned actor Irrfan Khan died at the age of 54 on Tuesday evening at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, where he was admitted and was under observation for colon infection. Earlier in 2018, the actor had announced that he’d been diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour.

The actor lost his mother, Saeeda Begum three days back, and he was reported to have attended her funeral via video call. In 2019, Irrfan had undergone treatment abroad for several months and was working on just one project at that time, director Homi Adajania’s film Angrezi Medium. 

The actor was not only renowned for his roles in Indian cinema, but was also involved in several international blockbusters such as Slumdog Millionaire, Jurassic World, The Amazing Spider-Man and Life of Pi.

Only Nine 9 states CMs allowed speak during the meeting with PM

April 27: Due to the time constraints, only nine Chief Ministers are expected to speak today, while, the other Chief Ministers would give their suggestions in writing at the meeting with Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
The Chief Ministers of Meghalaya, Mizoram, Puducherry, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar, Gujarat and Haryana would speak, while others would give their suggestions in writing due to time constraints. The Centre, following the meeting would study the recommendations and direct the opening of some more sectors for economy-revival in the Country.
The restrictions would need to be uplifted in those areas where COVID-19 cases have not been reported, the CMs would suggest the PM.
At the meeting which is to be held today, a ‘Graded’ exit from the 40 day lockdown would be discussed. Several officials said that the states want the restrictions to be extended in the hotspots, but relaxed in other areas where no cases of the coronavirus have been reported.
States would however follow continuing the ban on large gatherings. This would mean that the states would want the ban on religious places, malls, cinema halls, educational institutions, inter-state travel to continue for a longer time.

Govt allows shops to reopen: What is Open, What Not

April 25: Ministry Of Home Affairs has permitted opening neighborhood and standalone shop. With 50 per cent strength after taking necessary precautions in the light of cornoavirus pandemic. However MHA has not allowed opening of Market Places, Multi Brands And Single Brand Malls located across the country shall remain shut till May 3rd.

The order signed by Home Secretary, Ajay Bhalla would not be applicale to Hotspots and Containment zones. “All shops registered under the the Shops and Establishment Act of the respective State/UT, including shops in residential complexes and market complexes, except shops in multi-brand and single brand malls, outside the limits of municipal corporations and municipalities, with 50 per cent strength of workers with wearing of masks and social distancing being mandatory” the order by the MHA states.

April 24: When entire world is fighting over the outbreak of coronavirus, India is set to take move into leadership role in World Health Organisation. India will take the lead position on May 22 2020, executive board will hold their first meeting after the World Health Assembly Conference. India will replace Japan, which will complete its 1 year term.

Further it also recommend India for the post of chairperson held by rotation for one year among then  regional groups. India will take up the lead position on May 22.

Facebook picks 9.99% stake on Jio for RS 43,574 cr

April 22: Social Networking site Facebook takes 9.99 per cent stake on Mukesh Ambani's telecom platform Reliance Jio for Rs 43,574 crore. The Social Media giant looking to expend presence in its largest market in terms of subscriber base.

"Today we are announcing a Rs 43,574 crore, investment in Jio Platforms Ltd, a part of Reliance Industries Ltd, making Facebook its largest minority shareholder," the company said in a statement.

"Facebook's investment will translate into a 9.99 per cent equity stake in Jio Platforms on a fully diluted basis," it said.  Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd with 388 million subscribers, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jio Platforms.

India is home to the largest communities on Facebook and WhatsApp.

April 20th: Uttar Prasdesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's father Anand Singh Bisht, breath his last in Delhi today morning (April 20th 2020). Yogi Adityanath's father Anand Singh Bisht was undergoing treatment at AIIMS hospital in New Delhi and passed away at 10.44am.

Former KA CM HD Kumaraswamy criticized for his son's wedding

April 18: Former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy was criticized for being irresponsible for conducting his son’s wedding during the time when the country is battling a pandemic. The former CM said that he had taken all necessary precautionary measures before hosting the wedding.
Kumaraswamy’s son, Nikhil wed Revathi, the grand niece of Congress leader, M Krishnappa yesterday in a private ceremony. Prior to the wedding, Kumaraswamy had tweeted, “ heartfelt thanks to the millions of activists and well-wishers. Let us sit down and have a meal together when this situation that the world is facing gets over.”

Kumaraswamy also told India Today that he felt hurt when there were demands for the arrest of his father and former prime minister of India, H D Deve Gowda. When asked about the social distancing norms, he said that all precautions were taken. He also questioned Karnataka Chief Minister, B S Yediyurappa for flouting social distancing norms. The wedding was attended only by blood relatives, he said.

I challenge the CM to take any action, if we did anything wrong. The wedding was permitted by the district magistrate and every case was issued a pass for the function. On why none were wearing face masks, the former CM said that the WHO said it is not necessary for everyone to wear face masks.

Actor Vijay Is Worried About His Son. Know Why?

April 15th: Kollywood actor Vijay is worried about his son, Jason who stuck in Canada. His son is studying filmmaking at a university there. Coronavirus Pandemic has brought the Nation to standstill due to which domestic and International travel had been banned. All the people including celebrities are staying at home.

Jason has already released a short film, which was directed by him and also starred him. He was also seen in few of the film's which featured his Dad (Vijay).    

Central Govt Bans Sales Of Liquor During The Lockdown Extension

April 15th: Central Government bans sale of liquor and tobacco during the extension of lockdown which was called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 14th April. This is to ensure that social distancing is maintained to fight COVID-19 in the Country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the decision after PM held meeting with Chief Minister's of the states and the lockdown was extended till May 3rd.

PM also announced the states will have a close watch on hotpots till April 20th. Post which, decision of lifting the lockdown in corona free districts in the country will be implemented.     

List Of Activities Banned Until May 3rd

April 15th: Ministry Of Home Affairs has issued guideline on how to impose during lockdown. Here are the list of Activities Banned until May 3rd

a. All International and domestic airline services are suspended
b. Passenger Trains and Metro services are suspended, except Goods trains
c. Buses for pubic transport
d. All Educational, Training, Coaching Institutions
e. Buses, Taxis, Auto Rickshaws and cab aggregators.
f. All shopping, malls, cinema halls and assembly halls
g. All sports, entertainment, academic, religious functions and gatherings
h. In case of funerals not more than 20 persons

PM Modi To Address Nation Tomorrow


April 13th: Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the Nation tomorrow on extending the lockdown further. Earlier, Prime Minister announced 21 days of nationwide lockdown to tackle the increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases. The Lockdown ends tomorrow.

On Saturday, PM Modi had 4 hours of virtual meeting with Chief Ministers of all the States. During the meeting CMs had suggested the extension of lockdown and several measures to be taken to revive the economy

The announcement of addressing the nation was made today in PMO India Twitter handle.

PM took right decision Say Delhi CM Kejriwal

April 11th: Delhi Chief Minsiter Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision on extending the lockdown in the country to tackle outbreak of COVID-19.

"PM had taken correct decision to extend lockdown. Today, India's position is better than many developed countries because we started lockdown early. If it is stopped now, all gains would be lost. To consolidate, it is important to extend it". he said.

MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, first CM to oppose extenion of lockdown

April 11th: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was the first chief minster to oppose extending of lockdown. Earlier PM Modi Announced 21days Nationwide lockdown to tackle outback of COVID-19.

Extending the lockdown till April 30th was supported by all other state Chief Ministers during the virtual meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. States like Odisha, Punjab and Rajasthan are already announced extending the lockdown till 30th April.

April 10th: The Private Airline's which grounded their aircraft's following the lockdown decision by the Indian government on March 25th engaged in a Twitter raillery on Friday saying #StayingParkedStayingSafe is the best option during this difficult times.

Indigo, the India's largest private carrier started the conversation by tagging Vistara as below:

"Hey @airvistara, not #flyinghugher these days we heard?" on their Twitter page using the hashtag #StayingParkedStayingSafe which was joined by other airlines.

To which Vistara replied by tagging Goair to join the conversation.
"'No ðŸ˜Œ @IndiGo6E, these days being on-ground is a wonderful thing. Flying would not be the 'smart' choice, what say @goairlinesindia ?"

GoAir acknowledged: “Totally, @airvistara! Staying home is the safe feeling! We can hardly wait till everyone takes to the skies, coz at the moment it’s not like #NowEveryoneCanFly right, @AirAsiaIndian?

Further, it was AirAsia India who joined the conversation by inviting Spicejet using their tagline:
