Facebook picks 9.99% stake on Jio for RS 43,574 cr

April 22: Social Networking site Facebook takes 9.99 per cent stake on Mukesh Ambani's telecom platform Reliance Jio for Rs 43,574 crore. The Social Media giant looking to expend presence in its largest market in terms of subscriber base.

"Today we are announcing a Rs 43,574 crore, investment in Jio Platforms Ltd, a part of Reliance Industries Ltd, making Facebook its largest minority shareholder," the company said in a statement.

"Facebook's investment will translate into a 9.99 per cent equity stake in Jio Platforms on a fully diluted basis," it said.  Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd with 388 million subscribers, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jio Platforms.

India is home to the largest communities on Facebook and WhatsApp.

Delhi LG Anil Baijal Surprise Inspection At Migrant Shelter

April 21: Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal conducted a surprise visit to migrant's shelter home to check is social distancing are maintained. Earlier Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Lt Governor Anil Baijal held meetings with District Collector  and Deputy Commissioner of Police via video conferencing on coronavirus in the capital.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced 21 day of lockdown in first phase and on April 14th PM announced extension of lockdown till May 3rd. States Governments did not allow migrants of any state to travel to their native village to stop the spread of COVID-19

April 20th: Former liquor tycoon Vijay Mallya lost his appeal against extradition order to India. Vijay Mallya earlier had appealed in UK High Court against his extradition to India hearing in February this years.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's Father Passes Away In Delhi

April 20th: Uttar Prasdesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's father Anand Singh Bisht, breath his last in Delhi today morning (April 20th 2020). Yogi Adityanath's father Anand Singh Bisht was undergoing treatment at AIIMS hospital in New Delhi and passed away at 10.44am.

Yogi Adityanath's father was former forest ranger and was undergoing treatment his condition was critical. The hospital officials said that Anand Singh Bisht was in ventilator before he breath his last and had been in AIIMS from March 13.

Former KA CM HD Kumaraswamy criticized for his son's wedding

April 18: Former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy was criticized for being irresponsible for conducting his son’s wedding during the time when the country is battling a pandemic. The former CM said that he had taken all necessary precautionary measures before hosting the wedding.
Kumaraswamy’s son, Nikhil wed Revathi, the grand niece of Congress leader, M Krishnappa yesterday in a private ceremony. Prior to the wedding, Kumaraswamy had tweeted, “ heartfelt thanks to the millions of activists and well-wishers. Let us sit down and have a meal together when this situation that the world is facing gets over.”

Kumaraswamy also told India Today that he felt hurt when there were demands for the arrest of his father and former prime minister of India, H D Deve Gowda. When asked about the social distancing norms, he said that all precautions were taken. He also questioned Karnataka Chief Minister, B S Yediyurappa for flouting social distancing norms. The wedding was attended only by blood relatives, he said.

I challenge the CM to take any action, if we did anything wrong. The wedding was permitted by the district magistrate and every case was issued a pass for the function. On why none were wearing face masks, the former CM said that the WHO said it is not necessary for everyone to wear face masks.

Zoom meeting app is not safe for video conference say govt


April 16th: Indian Government today said that Zoom meeting app is not safe for video conference. Government also said it will issue set of guideline for safety of users, who still wish to use Zoom.
